~Melissa WIlliamson The brothers are starting the Winter Semester off with some great and exciting activities. Last Friday the brothers participated in Fest Prep, which is a workshop for students participating in solo ensemble put on the by the EMU faculty woodwind quintet called the Eastern Winds. This is the first time hosting the event, which turned out very successful. This week is Recruitment Week for Kappa Kappa Psi! We have many fun activities planned this week for potential brothers. Monday was Service night, Tuesday was Basketball night, Wednesday was Music and Super Burrito night, and Thursday was the Formal Rush. We can’t wait to get to know more about the excellent and talented people that may join Delta Upsilon this semester!
The brothers and sisters started our Saturday by assisting the band staff with a very successful clinic day! Over 100 high school band members came to EMU, auditioned for an honors band scholarship, and participated in a clinic with their future applied professor. The night finished with an amazing performance by our Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band and Marching Band at our annual Band-O-Rama event. During the show the presidents of KKY and TBS announced the winners of the two awards sponsored by our chapters.
November is the month of musicianship for Kappa Kappa Psi. We have done two singing workshops already this month to improve our singing on the Fraternity Hymn and Song. We are also going to be holding a conducting band November 30th to allow students in conducting class to practice with a live band before their finals.
This week is our Homecoming week! The EMU Marching Band has been around campus to pep people up and get everyone excited. Friday night they will be performing at the Homecoming Pep Rally. This Saturday we will be joined by many Alumni for our Pre-Game performance. Aside from Marching Band, this week we took our annual pictures of both our Fraternity and Sorority, as well as individuals. (Stay tuned for pictures coming soon!)
